Getting started

Today every signed-in user is an administrator, with every right, and the screens call them administrators. The first administrator is created when ProjectStart is installed (see the operator guide). More administrators are added in Settings › Administrators.

Agents run with the Claude Code and Codex logins kept in Settings › Agents (Coding agent logins). Adding or replacing one doesn’t touch the host’s own logins.

  • Add a Claude login shows a link to Claude’s sign-in page and a field for the code you get there (Paste the code, then Submit code).
  • Add a Codex login shows a page to open and a code to enter there.
  • The link or code appears as soon as it is ready, updates live, and the sign-in can be cancelled. A sign-in doesn’t expire on ProjectStart’s side.

Creating a project installs no agent and no login. An agent’s first start in a project installs its engine and the login. How several logins share the work, and what happens at a usage limit, is in Agents.

Settings opens from the gear at the top of the sidebar. Its tabs:

  • General: the base domain for new projects’ addresses, the installation’s Time zone (used by every workflow’s schedules), appearance (theme, Language, chat text size) and Notifications on this device.
  • Git: Git host connections and Git push credentials, and which ones are the default.
  • Agents: the Claude Code and Codex logins.
  • Agent rules: your own rule sets for agents (see Agents).
  • Agent instructions: everything ProjectStart tells the agents, read-only: the chat rules, what each agent is told at its start, its tools, and the messages ProjectStart sends it by itself.
  • Actions: which actions the agents offer, your own actions, and their groups (see Actions).
  • Windows: the Windows image used for new Windows virtual machines.
  • Servers: servers set up for containers, and Update runners automatically (see Remote hosts).
  • Administrators and History.

Some rules apply to every entry in Settings:

  • Editing a token or password makes a new version. An existing project keeps the version it uses until you assign it another.
  • Retire keeps an entry usable by the projects that already use it, but new projects can’t choose it. Un-retire brings it back. The current default can’t be retired or deleted.
  • An entry is in use while a project that isn’t purged, or an operation that is running or can still be retried or undone, uses it. Only an entry that isn’t in use can be deleted.

The appearance settings in Settings › General are kept per browser. Language is Browser’s language (the default), English or 日本語; a change applies at once to every page in that browser, the sign-in page included. The theme is Light, Dark or Auto.

Every time and date the admin site shows is in your own time zone, the browser’s, and Today and Yesterday are counted in it. Agents give times in it too: each message you send carries your browser’s time zone.
